The only time the WTBTS "care" about children is when they're indoctrinating them...

The New Awake is Ridiculous! Special Issue about Childrearing
by serenitynow! ini have just skimmed it, but the parts i've read are laughable!
they talk about how "complete control" is unscriptural and "usually backfires!
" i guess that doesn't apply to the gb controlling it's jw subjects.

Atheist Fascism
by Band on the Run init is so draining for me to constantly read threads by atheists that assert that those of who are uncertain or have faith have irrational minds.
god can not be proven or unproven.
the harping is tedious.

I still like Dogbert and Catbert, and I thought it was weird that Alice (was that her name???) was portrayed in a positive light often, but Dilbert's dates weren't...I guess I thought Addam's was just making fun off certain women and/or Dilbert's perception of those women. Guess I was wrong. I can't read the newer Dilbert strips, but sometimes I still read the older ones, with Dogbert in them.

JW's And The Abuse Of Children...
by shel54401 inthrough out my 10yrs.
of being involved w/ the organization i have witnessed a many pyhsical abuse.and i even have been to a many different halls, in which i saw the same abuse on children.the last thing that had made me leave was a case of childabuse, in which no elders nor any one did anything to help these poor children, so i reported them and the children were taken from the home that day, the husband went to jail then prision for a probation violation by hurting the children.the little one of age 5 was punched in the face, then kicked down a flight of stairs..this was it for me, after reporting this, i left the organization and never looked back..how sad, when people just stood by and watched this happen, even an elder's wife, and no one did anything to help these poor children.and the beatings i witnessed in the bathrooms was just awful.after my research of this dangerous cult, and then the beatings of the children was enough for me to take my 5 year old daughter and myself out of this dangerous organization and never look back.
yes, we lost a many frineds, but i still keep in contact w/ some of my jw"s friends who sneek over at times to visit me..i sure pray that god will helo them escape this dangerous organization before its too late..

I have seen children taken into trestroom, whining, begging their mother or father "no, please no"...and they come out with tears streaming down their faces after a "good spanking".
Not even a wild, extremely bratty child deserves to be hit. And most of the kids I saw were merely bored and a bit restless. And usually very young. I hate spanking, and if I ever spanked a child, even once, even "mildly", I would feel such pain, even if it didn't bother them too much.
How can anyone stay in a religion that not only allows, but ENCOURAGES this abuse? Yet I spent so many years justifying it myself.

Abusive Families Drawn Like Moths to a Flame or Does WTS Help Develop Abusive Attitude?
by OnTheWayOut inso many ex-jw's are stepping forward here and other places and relaying information about their upbringing in the jw's being an abusive one.. we have the two types of abuse- physical and sexual.
i thought i would give a chance to everyone to ponder on what's up with the high levels within watchtower congregations.
i know the subject has been covered before, but some fresh voices and some new readers might want to know that they are not the freak, not the problem in their family, not alone, able to relate to others.. as far as physical abuse goes, i consider the attitude of wts that is passed on- beat the littlest of children in order to keep them quiet during meetings.

This is a great thread.
My parents were not abusive, but my grandparents were to one of my parents, the one who is a JWs (and, of course, who's parent's were).
I know of other JW parents who were rather neglectful in many ways.
I think that the Society covers it up, ignores it, and promotes it.
They advocate spanking, which is already abuse. Then parents "take it too far" and beat their kids.
Molestation is covered up.
Parents neglect because they are so busy "putting the Kingdom first" that they forget their kids.
Kids are forced to read the Bible, which can be quite tramutizing. I got nightmares from it myself.
And then there's Armegeddon...
And so much more.

What was something that you loved but were denied as a JW?
by Chemical Emotions ini could go on and on about all the things i loved, but i'll keep it brief and just mention one, rather trivial thing: music.
i love grunge and punk, and occasionally heavy metal, and can't listen to a lot of it as a witness..

Lol, I don't care for weed, but I don't see why cigars are so bad to JWs. I mean, c'mon.

I'm scared sometimes that the WTBTS might be right about everything.
by Chemical Emotions ini wake up thinking: what if my boyfriend and i die a terrifying death during armageddon?
with no hope of any life afterwards?.
do any of you ever feel that way?.

I want to respond to all of these comments individually, and I can't at the moment, but I just want to say THANK YOU! This thread is helping me a LOT.

Paraplegic JW example used at assemblies
by Alfred init seems like every time our circuit failed to meet the field service goals set by our co, the very next circuit assembly would invariably include a talk that mentions a chronically ill paraplegic sister who would dial the phone with her tongue to make return visits or conduct bible studies... i must have heard this experience at least 6 or 7 times in the past 20 years or so.
and every time i heard this recycled talk, they would add even more guilt-inducing twists to it.
to me, it eventually became way to difficult to believe...

umadevi: I'll try to remember that.
MrDarkKnight: Thank you. That helps to think about that.
godrulz: Well, I don't really agree, but I respect your beleifs.
SixofNine: Good idea. I've sort of been doing that, but I should be more methodical about it.
Deist: I have to look up the 607 thing more to totally understand it, but that's a good point.
